Willamy "Chiquerim" Freire is a talented Brazilian prospect and product of the highly regarded Nova Uniao camp. A versatile fighter, Chiquerim has exhibited promising potential in both his ground and standup games and does hold notable wins over Patricky Freire, Yusuke Endo, Paulo Dantas, Rafael "Manteiga" Bastos, and Jose Luis Nogueira. A Shooto Welterweight Champion, Freire has enjoyed a very promising start to his career, establishing himself as one of the top lightweight fighters on the Brazilian fight scene.

A very aggressive fighter earlier in his career, Chiquerim has learned to fight with restraint and is developing into a cool, composed and methodical striker. Despite the assumptions that come with being a Nova Uniao fighter, Chiquerim's proven he's confident in his striking and very comfortable keeping the fight standing. He's armed with a nice repertoire of kicks and punches, does a good job of mixing up his strikes on the feet, and shows competent defensive skills. Chiquerim's armed with a nice jab, left hook, and a good overhand right and right cross. He possesses nice leg kicks (especially an inside leg kick), and throws solid switch kicks to the body. Chiquerim does an effective job of keeping technical in his approach and staying away from unnecessary exchanges standing. While he's a good all-around standup fighter, Chiquerim isn't overpowering in any single area and does project as an elite level MMA striker. At times he gets a little emotional when he's hit, but he does work at continuing to refine his striking technique, including taking on professional muay thai matches to further his development in that area.

Chiquerim doesn't have the same amateur wrestling credentials as some but he works hard from in close where he shows good bodylock takedowns and effective takedowns from the clinch. From top position, Freire shows nice guard passing abilities and a very good technical ground game (not surprising given his training with Nova Uniao). He's equipped with very good top position jiu jitsu, showing smooth transitioning, effective control and a strong submission game. Chiquerim is armed with a diverse arsenal of chokes that he's particularly dangerous with when he's fighting from the top (brabo choke, north south, guillotine, etc.) While he isn't known for his ground and pound abilities, Chiquerim isn't shy about "pounding to pass" (using his punches to open up submission opportunities or opportunities to pass) or using his fists to defend against submission attempts. While he has shown good takedown defense, Freire also shows nice defensive guard skills and overall possesses very solid, technical ground skills and BJJ abilities across the board.
