ANALYSIS
Training out of Vision MMA, Victor O'Donnell is a promising young fighter and former competitor on "The Ultimate Fighter 11". Composed across the board, O'Donnell might not be dominant in any single area of the game but he is a versatile fighter who's shown competency throughout his MMA game. Athletic and quick, O'Donnell already holds notable wins over veterans Rafael Natal, Ryan Sturdy and Forrest Petz. Although he's spent the majority of his career fighting at 185 pounds, O'Donnell has cut to welterweight in the past and that's probably the division he's best suited for in the long run.

A good wrestler, O'Donnell's capable of getting the fight to the ground displaying good double and single leg takedowns, and strong slams. He's a composed grappler from top position where he controls his opponents' well, shows nice guard passing abilities, the capacity to improve positions, and an effective ground and pound game. O'Donnell will look to take mount, displays a calm and collected ground game all-around and is also very active fighting off his back. He has very nice hip escapes and is difficult to control on the ground, great at getting back to his feet off his back as well as being well versed in submissions. O'Donnell possesses quick hips and good submission awareness from guard (he's especially dangerous with triangle and armbar attempts), while also showing nice sweeps and transitions off his back. O'Donnell does tend to slow in the later stages of the fight and will need to work on his conditioning, but overall he appears to be developing into a well rounded MMA grappler.

Well rounded in his abilities, O'Donnell is a competent fighter whose striking abilities are definitely respectable. Relying mainly on his hands, O'Donnell possesses a nice jab, right cross and left hook but will also mix high kicks into his striking repertoire as well. Although he's very comfortable standing, O'Donnell does have a tendency to get hit and will need to work on tweaking his defensive game. He seems to have trouble dealing with pressure on his feet, and when he's rushed he instinctively drops low leaving himself oven to be hit with knees and uppercuts. Having said that O'Donnell isn't a "brawler" - technically he's pretty sound he just needs to tighten up a few areas in his standup. He's very composed on his feet and displays smart counter punching abilities, including an effective counter right cross and left hook. O'Donnell's strong in the clinch with knees and also possesses an incredible heart and toughness. In his bout with Chris Camozzi (see below) O'Donnell broke his orbital bone early but you would never know it. He didn't flinch, never backed down and kept fighting (and fighting well) and went the distance. O'Donnell does have some work to do but his standup potential is encouraging, and he has the tools and intangibles needed to develop into a competitive MMA striker.
OUTLOOK
Victor O'Donnell has shown well rounded abilities to compliment his tremendous heart and toughness early in his MMA career. He already displays a relatively polished skill set, and if he's able to continue improving his conditioning and tweaking certain areas of his game he has a chance to develop into a versatile, well rounded top fifteen fighter.
