ANALYSIS
Tyson Nam is an Elite XC and ICON Sport veteran currently competing in the bantamweight division. Originally hailing from Hawaii, Nam now trains out Beaverton, Oregon as a member of the esteemed Team Quest.
Nam has both kickboxing and boxing backgrounds so he's understandably very comfortable when the fight is left standing. Composed on his feet, Nam possesses tremendous speed and a good technical standup game. Nam is extremely quick and fleet of foot, and has shown very nice footwork early in his fighting career. He uses his quickness and footwork to keep a good range on his feet. Nam prefers working from the outside where he is armed with good hand speed and respectable power. He works his jab and cross, and possesses a quick left hook and dangerous right hand. He's also shown the ability to attack his opponents with good front kicks, and quick, powerful leg kicks. Although Nam does keep it technical and composed on his feet, he won't hesitate in going in for the kill when his opponent's hurt or put in danger.
Nam works hard to keep from being put on his back. He's shows excellent quickness and balance, and is armed with good takedown defense including a very quick sprawl. At times Nam will give up his back with little resistance, but he's proven very difficult to control on the mat. Furthermore he's displayed good submission defense , composure fighting on the ground, and proven he's very good at getting back to his feet when put on his back. Although his first preference is to keep the fight standing, Nam has shown creativity with his offensive submission game. He will need to continue working on his guard game, wrestling, and technical skills, but Nam trains with Team Quest and has been working hard at improving his grappling game. He's also shown good control and sound ground and pound abilities, but his reluctance to take the fight to the ground does negate much of what he's able to accomplish from the top.

OUTLOOK
Tyson Nam is a promising striker who's shown composure throughout his MMA game. He'll need to continue working on his grappling while gaining experience and proving himself against better competition, but with more time to train and refine his skill he has a chance to develop into a top fifteen bantamweight.
