Steve Lopez is a UFC vet and a former member of the Bulldog Fight Team. Lopez combines good speed, size and athletic abilities with a grinder mentality and excellent heart. Although he's a former wrestler, Lopez makes no qualms about the fact that he looks to entertain and won't shy away from the standup at any time.

Lopez enters the sport with a wrestling base. Collegiately, he wrestled at the NCWA level for Bethel College where he was a National Qualifier the year before his school dropped their program. A good athlete, Lopez has a quick shot and competent takedown abilities. He works very aggressively from top position where he'll look to posture up and utilize his ground and pound game. He moves around well on the mat where he displays quick transitions. Although Lopez has shown quick hips and a nice sprawl, his aggressive nature does leave him susceptible to being taken down. Lopez began working on his BJJ in 2007, and he has shown poise and composure fighting off his back. Having said that, his BJJ is still a work in progress and he will need to continue working on his technical ground skills.

Lopez looks to put on an entertaining performance and welcomes a standup battle between he and his opponent. A very aggressive striker, Lopez is constantly moving forward and going right after his opponent. He comes equipped with good hand speed, a quick left straight and good right hook. Lopez is tough, scrappy, and comfortable standing in the pocket and letting his hands fly. On occasion, Lopez will start winging wild power shots, leaving himself wide open to the opposition's counters. He also has a habit of keeping his hands low, chin exposed, and not properly checking leg kicks. Lopez will need to focus on shoring up his defensive game, doing a better job of establishing range and making use of his reach. He's quite susceptible to patient, technical strikers and will need to work on harnessing his aggressiveness.
