Shawn Jordan is an athletic heavyweight and multiple fight veteran for Bellator FC. He was a four-sport standout in high school where he had success competing in track, basketball, football and wrestling. In particular, Jordan excelled on the gridiron where he was ranked as high as 7th in the country at fullback. He eventually joined LSU where he played football for four years, and after going undrafted by the NFL he shifted gears and turned his attention to mixed martial arts.

Although Jordan’s high school athletic accomplishments centered mostly on what he achieved playing football, he also excelled on the wrestling mat where he was a two-time Texas State Champion Wrestler. Upon graduating Jordan would continue his football career at Louisiana State University, but gave up wrestling as LSU did not have a wrestling program. Jordan is a “power” grappler who displays good strength and balance. He shows solid takedown defense, and did thwart former NFL Pro Bowler and six- time NCAA Wrestling Champion (three times as a Div. I wrestler) Carlton Haselrig’s takedown attempts for the duration of their bout. A powerful athlete, Jordan’s armed with explosive double legs. He moves around very quickly from top position where he makes use of a strong, persistent ground and pound attack. He’s good at muscling his way through his opponents guard but will need to pay attention to his BJJ training and submission skills.

Still developing as a striker, Jordan will need to continue working on his standup game. He is however blessed with good natural tools, having shown excellent raw punching power as well as the ability to deliver big knees from in close. With focus on his technique and defense, Jordan should develop into a competent heavyweight striker.
