Shamil Abdurahimov is a heavyweight prospect training with Peresvet FT. A Pro FC and Abu Dhabi FC veteran, Abdurahimov possesses intriguing size-power abilities and holds notable victories against Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, Jeff Monson and Shamil Abdulmuslimov.

Abdurahimov shows promise on his feet where he moves well and is armed with good reach. Confident in his abilities, Abdurahimov will press the action while successfully incorporating spinning back fists and spinning back kicks into his striking repertoire. He’s dangerous with his right hand, having displayed a good straight right and a nice uppercut. Abdurahimov delivers heavy leg kicks, works his jab and will vary his punching to the head and body. Furthermore, Abdurahimov does have excellent power and one punch finishing potential as he showcased in his bout with Vitali Yalovenko. He does tend to slow badly in the later stages of the fight and should continue working on his cardio, but Abdurahimov has shown plenty of upside in his standup game.

In general Abdurahimov is a strong athlete who’s shown the potential for powerful takedowns. His repertoire includes a nice single leg, good body locks and leg trips as well as a decent sprawl. Offensively, Abdurahimov looks to utilize his ground and pound game on the mat. He’s blessed with long arms and isn’t shy about letting his hands go with a quick flurry of punches and hammerfists from the top. While Abdurahimov has shown competency fighting from inside his opponents guard, his own will require significant work. Abdurahimov gives up major positions (mount, side control) with little resistance, and relies on hanging on and hoping for a restart. Resilient however, Abdurahimov has proven difficult to keep pinned down. He attempts to power his way back to his feet, and while he’s often successful in doing so he does leave himself wide open attempting to do so. Abdurahimov’s submissions skills are still quite green and he will need to continue working on his BJJ and technical ground game.
