Ronny Sales da Silva is a promising light heavyweight prospect. A Nova Uniao-Kimura product, it’s not surprising to learn that Silva is a strong grappler and solid Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner. As a fighter known for his BJJ, it’s encouraging to note that Silva has shown promise in his wrestling. He competes well from in close, where he’ll use a nice outside leg trip and high crotch takedown (see bout with Roque Oliver). Working patiently from top position, Silva possesses slick submissions skills and solid technical grappling abilities.

Standing, Silva utilizes quick inside leg kicks while working his jab and cross. In the early stages of his career it’s become apparent that Silva’s much more at ease on the mat, and he will use his striking to try to get close so he can take the fight down. While Nova Uniao is primarily recognized as a grappling camp, they have made strides in developing their standup in recent years, and Silva does have a very solid group of training partners to work his striking with.
