ANALYSIS
Rodrigo Lima is a pace pusher known for his aggressive style and finishing prowess. At an early age he’s shown versatility in his skill set competing on the regional scene in Brazil – most notably with domestic promotion WOCS.
Lima is a true mixed martial artist who seamlessly transitions between striking and grappling. He shows tremendous speed on his feet, getting his kicks and punches off very quickly. Although he occasionally gets chaotic with his striking, overall Lima showcases intriguing speed-power attributes. He unleashes nice jabs, straight/overhand rights, and demonstrates aggressive counter punching capabilities. Furthermore Lima’s displayed plenty of power at an early age, and shows all the makings of a very dangerous striker with continued technical progression.
On the ground Lima is a very aggressive grappler. He controls his opponent well from top position where he’s capable of unleashing a blistering barrage of punches. Alternatively, he’ll use his ground and pound to soften opponents up to improve position or secure submission opportunities. It’s that dual ability that makes Lima’s ground game potentially dangerous as he’s extremely comfortable with all facets of ground fighting. He showcases excellent grappling instincts, great submissions awareness, and an aggressive finishing ability. As Lima’s technical pedigree has improved he’s displayed increasing confidence in his guard. He’s very aggressive off his back and will cycle effortlessly through various submission attempts. Lima’s adept at keeping opponent’s on the defensive and shows incredible smoothness between his sweeps, transitions, and submission attempts. Training his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under heavily credentialed instructor Jorge Pereira Pinto, Lima is in line to earn his black belt before the age of twenty five. Though wrestling is a work in progress, Lima’s age and progression suggest he should develop into a dangerous, well rounded MMA grappler.
