Rene Nazare is a promising Brazilian lightweight fighter. A legitimate black belt and high level jiu jitsu practitioner, Nazare is a former BJJ World Champion who enters the sport well regarded for his pure BJJ game. Originally hailing from Brazil, Nazare moved to the United States in his mid twenties to teach and pursue his career as a mixed martial artist.

Nazare enters the sport with a very strong Brazilian Jiu Jitsu pedigree and a rapidly progressing wrestling game. Nazare is a quick athlete who does a good job of setting up his takedowns by working his striking. He's displayed improving takedown defense over his career (although he is extremely comfortable fighting off his back), as well as quick single and double leg takedowns from in close. A high calibre BJJ stylist, Nazare is a true black belt jiu jitsu practitioner who's armed with an extremely strong technical ground game. He demonstrates impressive guard passing abilities, solid transitions and a very active, dangerous guard game. Nazare's equipped with a beautiful assortment of sweeps that are delivered extremely quickly and with excellent technical acumen. He's also shown very quick hips, strong, technically tight submission skills, good submission defense and excellent overall composure throughout his ground game. Nazare also isn't shy about using his striking on the ground, showing strong ground and pound potential in finishing two of his first three opponents with strikes on the ground. Nazare is still getting accustomed to dealing with strikes off his back, but his overall grappling game holds tremendous potential.

Although Nazare is regarded as a BJJ stylist, he's made a point of trying to be as versatile as he possible can. He's 100% focused on his mixed martial arts training, and has shown encouraging progression in his standup abilities. Nazare lets his hands go and is blessed with good natural speed in his striking. He shows good defensive instincts as he makes an effort at keeping his guard up, and does remain composed when the fight is kept standing. Unlike many grapplers Nazare doesn't wilt under pressure or fall to pieces when he's hit, and he is equipped with a sturdy chin. Offensively, Nazare will work his jab and possesses a nice right cross. He's shown promising potential from in close, where he will immediately look to grab the thai plum and fire off strong knees and quick uppercuts. Although his striking is still green, Nazare's shown that he's willing to engage and is working at rounding out his game. He'll need to continue working in his technique, but Nazare definitely holds promise in his MMA striking game.
