ANALYSIS
Pat Audinwood is a former teammate of Jon Jones and current member of Team Bombsquad. He's a New York native that came from a wrestling background (high school) prior to embarking on his MMA career. Physically, Audinwood is a very large lightweight who stands a legitimate 6'0" tall and cuts from the 190-195 pound range to fight at 155. He's already competed in M-1 and been in contact with both the WEC and UFC, and will likely find himself in a prominent organization sooner rather than later.

For a lightweight, Audinwood is long and lean but also deceptively strong. He comes from a wrestling base and does look to take the fight to the ground and work from top position. His length really helps him on the ground where he throws nice hammer fists, punches and elbows, and overall displays a composed, active ground and pound game. Audinwood's punches come in from all positions (guard, mount, side control, back, scrambles, etc.), and his ground attack is quite varied and effective from multiple spots. Audinwood displays beautiful ground control as he manipulates his opponents well from all positions. His wrestling background and ground control is visibly prevalent in his game and he does do a good job of grounding his opponents and opening up offensive opportunities on the mat (see bout with Robert Conner). Audinwood's technical ground skills and understanding of submissions and BJJ continue to come along. An intelligent fighter, Audinwood will quickly transition from his ground and pound to submissions when those opportunities arise (ground and pound to armbars, chokes etc.). He's equipped with long flexible legs, likes working a high guard and is dangerous off his back with triangle attempts. His ground work does show promising potential but he himself has also found himself caught in hazardous situations on the ground and he'll need to continue working on his BJJ and technical ground skills to fully round out his grappling game.

Although Audinwood is certainly more comfortable taking his opponent to the mat he does exhibit promise in his standup game. A good athlete, Audinwood's blessed with good length and size for the division and has shown a quick jab and nice high kicks from the outside. He's light and quick on his feet, not afraid to throw punches and although his standup is still green, the tools are there for him to develop into a competitive fighter on his feet.
OUTLOOK
Pat Audinwood is an exciting lightweight who made a smooth transition to MMA. While he doesn't exhibit top shelf potential in any one area of his game, he's shown well rounded abilities throughout his game. Much of his future depends on how versatile a fighter he can develop into, but given his age, tools and size he does have top fifteen potential at lightweight.
