Fighting out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Misha Cirkunov is an ultra talented light heavyweight prospect who enters the sport with solid grappling credentials and the backing of Xtreme Couture Toronto. Born in Latvia, Cirkunov immigrated to Canada as a teenager where he immediately began receiving attention for his immense grappling potential. Originally coming from a judo background, Cirkunov had already earned his black belt and begun tearing through the Ontario high school wrestling scene by the age of sixteen, and at the same time was the number one ranked Canadian judoka at his weight class (all as a teenager mind you.) Catching the eye of respected BJJ trainer Sam Zakula, Cirkunov began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and his grappling game has continued to evolve into a very exciting blend of his judo, wrestling and BJJ backgrounds. Long considered one of Canada's top grapplers, Cirkunov is a former Canadian Junior National Judo Champion, two-time Canadian Junior National Freestyle Wrestling Champion, Canadian Junior National Greco-Roman Wrestling Champion, Pan-American Games Gold Medalist (no-gi super heavyweight division) and North American ADCC Trials Champion who also competed in the finals of the 2007 ADCC as a twenty year old.

"Explosive" is a very good adjective to describe Cirkunov's style, as he drives through opponents with powerful takedowns. He's dangerous from the clinch with trips and throws given his judo and Greco-Roman backgrounds, while also proving very capable of driving forward with conventional double legs. Cirkunov is a positional grappler who's most comfortable fighting from the top where he's shown the ability to deliver heavy punches to compliment his sound grappling abilities. Given his hard hitting prowess and style of grappling, Cirkunov possesses fantastic potential in his ground and pound game. To compliment his ground skills, Cirkunov has been cross training and working diligently on his striking game. An incredibly gifted athlete who's quick, fast and strong - Cirkunov oozes natural talent and past coaches have gushed over his commitment, work ethic and raw skill set. Cirkunov also works diligently on strength training and lifting weights, and although he's extremely unproven in MMA competition and has considerable work to do, he does have the natural talent necessary to develop into a versatile, well rounded mixed martial artist.
