Growing up in "Murder Capital USA", Mike Easton is a tough, resilient bantamweight fighter who's shown tremendous versatility early in his career. An explosive athlete, Easton is blessed with exceptional speed, quickness and raw power which is clearly evident throughout his game. Easton, who's a legitimate BJJ black belt, has also quickly garnered attention for his hard hitting standup prowess. A UWC Bantamweight Champion, Easton holds a win over former WEC Champion Chase Beebe (albeit a very controversial one) and is blessed with the raw tools and technical acumen to develop into an elite level mixed martial artist.
Easton's MMA boxing is very good as he comes armed with fast hands, quick instincts and tremendous punching power for a bantamweight fighter. He also delivers powerful leg kicks and nice high kicks, and overall is an aggressive striker whose standup abilities always need to be respected. A tremendous athlete, Easton is very quick, agile, and shows good head movement and the ability to bob, weave and slip punches very effectively standing. He throws a quick jab and left hook, a powerful overhand right and shows the intellect to work both the head and body of his opponent with power punches. Easton shows tremendous diversity in his striking, also proving very dangerous from in close where he's capable of delivering good knees, powerful uppercuts and latching on a very strong thai clinch. While Easton is an engaging striker, he isn't a brawler. He displays sound defensive skills and uses his quickness and footwork to get in and out of range effectively and avoid being hit. Overall Easton shows tremendous promise in his standup skills, and is blessed with the natural tools and technical proficiency to develop into a versatile, dangerous MMA striker.
Physically, Easton is a strong, explosive athlete who's equipped with a very solid, methodical grappling game. He holds a black belt in BJJ under Lloyd Irvin, and enters the sport with very solid credentials including a third place finish at the 2007 Jiu Jitsu World Championships as a brown belt. His technical BJJ game is very strong, and he shows excellent composure and good submission defense when put in precarious positions. Easton is very comfortable fighting off his back where he showing active, competent guard skills, good sweeps and a solid submission game (including a nasty guillotine). A quick scrambler, Easton is a difficult fighter to get a read on and has shown improving takedown defense over his career. In past fights strong wrestlers have been able to control him on the mat so he is potentially susceptible against good wrestlers with competent submission games, unless he continues working on his wrestling and takedown defense. From top position Easton displays good control and nice guard passing abilities. He's also able to unleash quick elbow strikes, powerful knees to the body, and has shown the ability to load up with big power punches from the top.
