ANALYSIS
Mark Oshiro is an exciting bantamweight prospect known for being a talented striker with a good ground game. Always looking to finish, Oshiro is an aggressive fighter who actively looks to knock his opponent out standing or finish with a sub on the mat. Oshiro is an EliteXC veteran and former ICON Sport Bantamweight Champion who was very well known on the Hawaiian fight circuit prior to signing with Bellator FC in the spring of 2010.

Oshiro is a tough, aggressive striker who possesses very strong standup abilities. A long, lean bantamweight, Oshiro's equipped with good reach and nice footwork, proving capable of moving around quickly and effortlessly on his feet. An aggressive fighter, Oshiro's not afraid of going right at his opponent standing, but he's also shown sound countering abilities on his feet and can effectively play the role of counter striker. Oshiro's blessed with a rock solid chin, is very comfortable standing and doesn't think twice about letting his punches and kicks go. He's armed with very fast hands, throws powerful leg kicks and swift high kick. From in close, Oshiro throws nice knees, and does come equipped with tremendous power in his right hand. He possesses a very fast, powerful right cross that holds one punch finishing power, and overall his speed-power capabilities make him a dangerous striker who always needs to be respected on his feet.

Oshiro transitions smoothly from his striking to his grappling and ground games. Very aggressive and active on the mat, Oshiro throws heavy punches from top position and actively works off the bottom for sweeps, submissions, and at trying to get back to his feet - all while keeping his hands going and his punches coming in (even from the bottom). A competent BJJ player, Oshiro possesses an active submission game and the proficiency to finish on the mat, although he isn't immune to finding himself in tough positions on the ground. At times he will over commit and try to force things, and in the process will leave himself open to sweeps and submission attempts from the top. Although he remains very calm under pressure and patiently looks to work his way out of tight spots, he will need to continue working on his guard skills, especially since he's susceptible to being taken down. Oshiro isn't a strong wrestler, and his takedown defense and wrestling skills have played pivotal roles in past losses. He has however continued to work diligently on that area of his game, and for his future prospects it would be greatly beneficial if he could continue making strides in his takedown defense and wrestling.
OUTLOOK
Mark Oshiro is blessed with good speed, power and exciting standup abilities. His grappling game needs work and he'll really need to focus on his wrestling and takedown defense, but he's an undeniably tough and talented bantamweight. Although he will need to prove himself against better competition, Oshiro does have top fifteen potential in the division.
