ANALYSIS
Mark Adams is a hardworking featherweight prospect who's quietly made his name known on the British fight scene. Prior to turning pro, Adams had a very strong amateur career (10-0-1) and his patient approach to his MMA training has resulted in steady progress in his overall skill set. Very dedicated to his craft, Adams trains on a fulltime basis and has already spent time training with the likes of Eddie Bravo, Shawn Tompkins and Randy Couture in the United States, as well as with the Wolfslair Academy in England before joining Team Kaobon on a full time basis. Prior to embarking on his mixed martial arts career, Adams spent five years with the Parachute Regiment (he joined them straight out of high school), an experience he credits with teaching him invaluable lessons on dedication, will-power, and the ability to dig deep and never quit - lessons which have served him incredibly well in his fights and training. Holding a win over highly regarded featherweight Alan Omer, Adams captured the BAMMA Featherweight Championship in May 2010, a win that has really put him on the radar as someone to watch in the division.
Like most British fighters, Adams' wrestling and takedowns are not tested against top competition and will always be somewhat of an unknown variable in his overall arsenal. What is known is that Adams' wrestling and top control are likely the strongest points in his MMA game. Furthermore, he has trained on a regular basis with the British National Wrestling Team during his career and he's making a very conscious effort to get those skills in line with his North American counterparts. A strong overall wrestler, Adams' displays good takedowns (especially from in close) and solid takedown defense. He definitely prefers fighting from the top position where he utilizes a grinding top game. He possesses excellent conditioning, good control and works an active, methodical ground and pound game making use of his elbows, hammer fists and punches nicely. Physically, Adams' is very strong and able to posture up and land big punches from the top, and he shows well rounded grappling abilities possessing solid submission skills - both offensively and defensively.
Adams continues to work diligently on his standup at Team Kaobon. He's armed with good leg kicks, nice high kicks and continues to show improving counter striking abilities. From in close he's able to throw nice knees from the clinch, and he is equipped with respectable power - especially for the division. Although Adams does rely primarily on his submission wrestling base, he is comfortable enough on his feet that he'll look to keep it standing if he believes that's where his advantage lies. Still a little raw, there are times Adams will leave himself open to counters and he'll need to continue working on his defense and working on refining his overall technique.

OUTLOOK
Mark Adams has shown promise in his ground game and striking, while also possessing good size, strength and conditioning for the featherweight division. Furthermore, he's extremely hard working, dedicated and fully committed to his career as a mixed martial artist. He's continued to show progress throughout his career, as the intelligent, patient approach he applies to his training has steadily paid off. While Adams remains somewhat of an unproven commodity who still has work to do, he's shown he has top ten potential at featherweight.
