Marcos Rogerio de Lima is a powerful Brazilian muay thai fighter known for his aggressiveness and knockout ability. De Lima’s breakthrough came in 2010 when he defeated Paulo Filho (eventually leading to his signing with Strikeforce), and he does present an attractive package of size and natural attributes.

De Lima is known as a high level, experienced muay thai stylist. He pushes a high tempo fight standing, pressing forward and letting his strikes go without hesitation. Although de Lima is armed with devastating power in his strikes, his technical game also deserves merit as he presents a very diverse attack with his standup. He’s armed with good, heavy hands, throwing a nice 1-2 combination and punishing the body with power punches. De Lima’s presents a punching kicking game, intelligently varying both his location (body, legs, high) and type (roundhouse, switch, front). In the clinch de Lima shows powerful clinch skills, throwing nasty knees and quick elbows – particularly when he’s backed his opponent into the cage. Given his aggressiveness it’s not surprising to note that de Lima will get a carless at times, but for the most part his punches and kicks come together well when he’s putting together combinations. De Lima does recognize his one strike finishing power and has a great sense of attempting to finish the fight.

De Lima’s ground game remains a work in progress and he’s continued putting work into his wrestling and BJJ. As he’s gained experience de Lima’s shown good defensive guard skills, and he did hold his own on the mat with Paulo Filho during their late 2010 encounter. De Lima works a good ground and pound game from the top, and has shown competent defensive wrestling skills at different points in his career. Not known as an offensive grappler or submission fighter, de Lima continues working closely with BJJ coach Marco Barbosa. Given his stylist preferences, de Lima’s wrestling development will play a pivotal role in his success as he makes his way to North America.
