A Chechen lightweight and M-1 veteran, Mairbek Taisumov is a talented young lightweight currently training out of the Czech Republic. Blessed with good speed and athleticism, Taisumov is a former soccer player who shows impressive standup skills a developing ground game, and the potential to develop into an impact fighter in the lightweight division.

Taisumov is a promising young striker who shows excellent potential in his standup. He moves around the cage effortlessly, shows very good footwork and is very quick and light on his feet. Beckan is very confident in his standup game and comes equipped with an impressive striking arsenal from both in close and outside. Armed with impressive hand speed, Taisumov has good boxing skills including an excellent overhand right. Like his punches, Taisumov's kicks are released very quickly and he's shown the ability to throw beautiful, stinging leg kicks and good high kicks. He's also a good defensive fighter who keeps his guard up, maintains good distance on his feet and does well not to get caught up in any unnecessary exchanges on his feet. A smart technician on his feet, Taisumov shows effective counter striking abilities and takes a patient, methodical approach in picking apart inferior strikers standing. He also sets his strikes up very nicely (repeated leg kicks to high kicks, repeated kicks to punches etc.), and shows a good understanding of the various dimensions to the standup game. An accurate striker, Taisumov is able to throws quick knees from in close and overall shows diversity, and a sound makeup in his MMA striking abilities.

Taisumov has a background in freestyle wrestling and shows excellent reactions, possesses very quick hips and displays a nice, effective sprawl. Having said that, Taisumov isn't immune to being put on his back and he will need to continue working on his takedown defense (especially if he wants to acclimate himself to the North American game). Showing nice throws himself, Taisumov is able to take opponents to the ground where he's equipped with aggressive ground and pound capabilities from top position. He's able to unleash a quick, blur of precise punches and hammer fists and is a definite threat to finish if he's not controlled properly. He also shows good transitions, solid submission defense and a competent submission game offensively, and overall possesses a slick top game on the ground. Still a little green off his back, Taisumov will need to improve his guard play. He'll not very active off his back, and will need to work on defending strikes, better maintain his guard, and tweaking his positional ground skills going forward.
