ANALYSIS
Joseph Duffy is a highly touted Irish prospect who made a brief appearance on the 12th edition of “The Ultimate Fighter”. He comes from a striking background, having studying tae kwon and kickboxing before pursuing a career in mixed martial arts.
Under the tutelage of Heath Gait, Duffy has studied Japanese Jiu Jitsu and no-gi grappling. He’s comfortable competing on the mat even going so far as to pull guard to take the fight to the ground. Although his comfort level and technical skills have improved, Duffy will need to work on his positional guard play as he was soundly outmatched on the mat in his TUF 12 bout with Kyle Watson. Duffy possesses a competent submission game, showing active hips and good wrist control.

Joseph Duffy is a promising Irish prospect who’s shown comfort fighting standing and on the ground. His technical skills will require work, but with continued training and experience Duffy does have the potential to develop into a top fifteen lightweight.
