ANALYSIS
Jordan Mein is a top Canadian prospect who’s risen to prominence competing on the regional circuit in his home country. Mein had first amateur fight at the age of fourteen, turned pro at sixteen, and had attained an enormous amount of experience by the age of twenty. A polished, well rounded welterweight, Mein is extremely mature for his age and equally capable of finishing with his striking and submissions. After a solid beginning to his fighting career, Mein enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2011 when he defeated notable MMA veterans Joe Riggs, Josh Burkman, and Marius Zaromskis,

Mein is a composed striker who offers variety in his standup. He has a great sense of striking range and is a long-limbed welterweight who uses his reach, movement, and footwork expertly. Patient in his approach, Mein provides no wasted motion in his striking. He switches between an orthodox and southpaw attack, changes his rhythm and patterns, and is difficult for opponent’s to get a read on. Mein is a smooth striker whose punches and kicks come effortlessly. He puts together crisp combinations, works the body very nicely, and shows strong counter punching abilities. His repertoire consists of a good jab, excellent left and right straights and hooks, and quick high kicks and front kicks. While Mein is known as an accurate striker who lands the majority of his punches from the outside, he does so without sacrificing much power and is capable of dropping opponents with both his kicks and punches. He’s defensively conscious at all times, and has beaten reputable strikers in the standup department over the course of his career.

Mein keeps off his back by maintaining a low centre of gravity, and using his sprawl, footwork and range nicely in thwarting takedown attempts. Although Mein does seem inclined to keep his fights upright, he’s entirely capable of competing on the mat. He’s a quick scrambler who’s difficult to keep pinned down, and he’s shown good defensive guard skills working off his back. Offensively, Mein possesses a competent submission pedigree including powerful chokes and a dangerous guillotine. Great at sensing his opponent’s in danger, Mein throws very accurate punches and elbow strikes from the top, going heavily to both the head and body.
OUTLOOK
Jordan Mein is technically strong across the board. As he’s matured physically, his game has improved leaps and bounds and he’s earned a substantial amount of experience without putting too much wear on his body. Mein’s talent level is significant and he’s capable of cracking the top ten rankings in the very near future.
