ANALYSIS
Jared Rosholt is the younger brother of UFC vet Jake Rosholt, and a promising prospect in the heavyweight division. Following in the footsteps of his older brother, Jared was a very decorated wrestler in high school where he earned four State Championships (two in Idaho, two in Oklahoma). From there he would make his way to Oklahoma State University where his success continued at the collegiate ranks. Rosholt would go on to become the winningest heavyweight in the school’s history with 125 victories, and qualify for the Division I tourney in each of his seasons. Improving throughout his college career, Rosholt would earn NCAA Division I All-American honours three times, culminating with a runner-up up performance at the 2009-2010 NCAA Championships. As a high level, technical wrestler with an excellent combinations of size, speed, and strength, Rosholt possesses huge upside as a heavyweight mixed martial artist.
Equipped with his wrestling pedigree, Rosholt’s grappling game consists of a varied, high quality takedown arsenal and punishing top game. He’s deceptively quick, changing levels in a flash and driving forward with a power double and fantastic single leg attack. A physical heavyweight, Rosholt employs a power guard passing and transition game. He’s armed with excellent strength and shows great top control and powerful (albeit raw) ground and pound abilities. In terms of his overall development Rosholt will need to continue progressing in his submissions and BJJ knowledge, particularly on defense, as his heavyweight wrestling credentials are unquestionable. Training with Marc Laimon at Kobra Kai Rosholt continues making strides in the right direction.
As a young mixed martial artist with a wrestling background, Rosholt’s striking is still in the early stages of its development. He has shown intelligence in utilizing footwork and head movement to keep out of trouble as well as showing variance in his kicks and punches, but his standup is still very green and key to his overall development.

OUTLOOK
Traditionally, high calibre collegiate wrestlers have excelled on the North American mixed martial arts scene. Given his wrestling pedigree, Rosholt certainly has the potential to develop into a top ten fighter if he can continue making strides in the other areas of his game.
