ANALYSIS
Initially known for his appearance on BET's Iron Ring, Jamie Yager was then prominently featured on TUF 11 where he established himself as a middleweight prospect. Best known for his explosive striking potential and athleticism, Yager is a former high school football and baseball standout who will need to continue working on diversifying his MMA repertoire.

Yager's blessed with excellent raw tools and shows a ton of potential in his standup game. His makeup is that of an explosive striker who's capable of finishing in a variety of ways any time the fight's kept standing. Armed with an impressive arsenal of kicks, Yager's shown the ability to land powerful low kicks, strong high kicks and good front kicks. He also shows excellent speed and power in his punching, and is equipped with good reach as well as a nice left hook and straight right. Yager makes good use of his standing elbows and knees, and is the type of striker who's effectively able to incorporate flying knees and superman punches into his repertoire. Like many young fighters Yager will need to work on shoring up his defensive abilities and technical game, although he does hold elite striking potential given his superior natural talents. Having said that, the promise Yager's shown in his standup does not come without its share of issues. Yager is a "stick and move" kind of striker who doesn't react well to pressure or being hit. His heart and mental game have been questioned, and he doesn't always respond well when things aren't going his way.

A striker first and foremost, Yager's entire grappling game is still a work in progress. Yager has shown good takedown defense and strong ground and pound abilities, but his technical ground skills will require considerable work. Yager struggles mightily off his back, and his jiu jitsu game (especially his guard) will need to be improved. His overall cardio is also a point of concern, as Yager seems to slow significantly as the fight wears on.
OUTLOOK
Still young and early into his career, Jamie Yager's raw talent is excellent although he certainly has areas of his game that require attention. Yager has the potential to develop into a dynamite striker with sufficient ground skills, if he can continue working on getting his wrestling and guard game up to par. He'll need to continue training and getting experience under his belt, but Yager is potentially a top fifteen middleweight down the road.
