Training with Team Buhawe, Isaac de Jesus is an exciting featherweight fighter known for his standup abilities. Tough and hardnosed, de Jesus never gives in or stops fighting, and his style and resiliency usually makes for an entertaining performance.

De Jesus is a southpaw striker who possesses strong standup abilities. His striking background began with tae kwon do at the age of four, and since then he's continued to work on refining his overall standup game. An aggressive, powerful kickboxer, de Jesus possesses a good left hand and an impressive arsenal of kicks. De Jesus really favours his kicks and uses them to target the head, legs and body of his opponents. His kicking repertoire is quite diverse and includes spinning back kicks, strong high kicks and body kicks, quick switch kicks, and effective leg kicks. A confident striker, de Jesus is very comfortable on his feet and will happily keep the fight upright if his opponent obliges. Defensively, de Jesus will need to work on tweaking his technique and improving his head movement. He has a tendency to drop his hands and leave himself wide open when throwing strikers, and in the past competent strikers have taken advantage of that situation (see bout with Visher). In addition, De Jesus is used to being the aggressor on the feet and has struggled at times when dealing with the aggressive striking pressure of opponents. Also, when things aren't going his way he has a habit of trying to land the big "power" shot but instead gets a little wild and careless with his striking.

A striker first and foremost, de Jesus is extremely comfortable keeping the fight standing. He makes little to no effort in trying to take the fight to the mat and isn't known for his wrestling ability or ground game. Although he has shown good balance and nice takedown defense, de Jesus is not impervious to the takedown and good wrestlers can put him on his back. Defensively, he'll need to get better at defending strikes off his back, better maintaining his guard (from being passed and mounted), and working on improving his overall guard game. From top position, de Jesus is content to blast away in an attempt to land big bombs from inside his opponents guard and doesn't really look to pass or improve his position on the mat. While he's very aggressive with his ground and pound, de Jesus does get a little wild with his punching and needs to be careful about not over committing and leaving open to submission attempts. From an offensive standpoint, de Jesus' will look for the occasion submission opportunity but his technique still lacks polish and he'll need to continue working on tightening up his BJJ and submission skills.
