ANALYSIS
The Netherlands is a country that has produced many solid fighters and strikers over the past decade, so to say that Hans Stringer might be the country's brightest young talent in MMA today definitely means a lot. A very strong and accomplished grappler in his home country, Stringer has also put considerable work into his striking game and appears to be well on his way to developing into a multi-dimensional mixed martial artist.

In stark contrast to most Dutch fighters, Stringer's biggest strength and primary background is in his BJJ and grappling abilities. He started training in BJJ at the age of fourteen and went on to become a four-time Dutch BJJ Champion and a three-time Dutch Grappling Champion - all before celebrating his twenty second birthday. Stringer is a technically sound grappler who possesses a smooth jiu jitsu game, excellent transitions and strong ground and pound skills. Given his long limbs and quick hips, Stringer is very good at fighting off his back with sweeps and submission attempts. Stringer seamlessly transitions between his grappling and striking from top position and overall possesses a ground game that flows very well. Stringer can unleash a strong ground and pound attack (see fight with Soltan Burdas below) and those ground and pound abilities compliment his jiu jitsu game very well. Stringer effectively uses his punches to pass guard, and his striking on the ground opens up lots of submission opportunities which he is both quick and technically proficient enough to capitalize on. While his grappling abilities have been impressive, they don't come without questions. The Dutch BJJ scene isn't exactly known for being rich in top-level grappling talent, and given how large of a role his ground game plays into his MMA game, much of Stringer's success will hinge on how his grappling abilities will match up with the better jiu jitsu players and wrestlers in the division.

While his standup is not quite at the same level as his ground game is, Stringer has been working diligently on his muay thai skills and has displayed steady progression in his striking as his career's moved forward. Stringer is not afraid to engage on his feet, does have several professional kickboxing fights under his belt and appears to be making a very concerted effort to improve his striking and round out his game. Training out of a country that has produced an abundance of world class strikers, Stringer should have many opportunities to further sharpen those skills. Fighting since the age of eighteen, Stringer has been gaining experience as he's gotten himself accustomed to the fight game and does hold quality wins over Euro veterans Stipe Bekavac and Krzysztof Kulak. Stringer has work to do but he shows potential in multiple areas of his game and he has a chance to develop into a very well rounded fighter in the light heavyweight division.
OUTLOOK
Hans Stringer is a very talented fighter who holds captivating grappling - striking potential in the light heavyweight division. His ground game is quite polished and still improving, he's shown good progress in his striking and he has considerable experience under his belt for a fighter his age. There are still areas of his game that are not thoroughly tested (takedowns, wrestling) and he will need to continue working on all the areas in his game, but given his age and talent level Stringer does have top ten potential at light heavyweight.
