Although he isn't an "elite" wrestler, Joseph does possess a wrestling background and has shown a good sprawl. He works hard at trying to take his opponent to the mat from in close, where he looks to utilize an aggressive ground and pound game. Joseph's able to throw powerful punches from top position, but he will need to focus on his BJJ and submission games. At times he over commits with his punching leaving himself susceptible to being swept, and going forward Joseph will need work on his positioning and overall technical skills on the ground.

Joseph is armed with very heavy hands, big leg kicks and excellent raw striking power. He's proven to be a natural power puncher who hits very hard, and does come equipped with a big right hand. From in close Joseph unleashes big knees up the middle, and he's shown he has the killer instinct to move in and finish when he has his opponent in danger. Joseph's punches do lack technical precision, as he tends to rely on landing wild, loopy haymakers. Defensively, Joseph does leave himself open at times and he will need to continue tightening up his defensive game in addition to his technical striking attack.
