Beginning his fighting career as a member of the Russian National Wrestling Team, Farkhad Sharipov would eventually relocate to Orlando, Florida where he has continued his MMA training as a member of the Gracie Barra Orlando camp. Sharipov enters the sport with strong wrestling credentials having been a former Kyrgyzstan National Freestyle Wrestling Champion, and has shown maturity early in his career taking a very strong, technical approach to his MMA game. Always in control, Sharipov rarely gets reckless and shows well-rounded MMA abilities and competitive skills across the board.

Sharipov does enter the sport with a wrestling background. From in close he shows good technical takedowns and good takedown defense, dropping down very quickly and proving especially effective with an impressive single leg. Like most wrestlers, Sharipov does like taking his opponent to the ground and working from top position where he's armed with patient, technical mat skills. Although he isn't an overwhelming ground and pound stylist, Sharipov does possess a composed, active ground and pound game that he uses to efficiently open up grappling opportunities without getting wild. Training at Gracie Barra Orlando, Sharipov continues complimenting his wrestling abilities with a strong BJJ game. He controls his opponents' well from the top, shows smooth guard passing abilities, and does fight actively off his back. Armed with quick hips and growing BJJ proficiency, Sharipov is confident throwing up submission attempts from the bottom (he has a good armbar) and shows the ability to quickly transition between submissions (ie. triangles to armbars etc.) Overall, Sharipov shows the potential to develop into a well rounded MMA grappler given his wrestling background and growing BJJ efficiency.

Despite his grappling prowess, Sharipov's a confident fighter who is comfortable when the fight is kept standing. He'll make a conscious decision to try and keep the right on the feet if he feels he matches up well there, and shows the flexibility in his standup to switch from an orthodox to southpaw stance (and vice versa) as he pleases. Although Sharipov isn't known as being a power puncher, he does show nice technical boxing skills and an effective arsenal of kicks. He displays solid footwork, very good hand speed and works an effective jab and very nice left hook. A strong counter puncher, Sharipov shows a nice counter right cross and left hook, and has proven capable of putting together crisp, tidy combinations with his punches (a nice jab-cross-hook combo). Strong defensively, Sharipov uses his footwork and head movement to successfully keep out of his opponents' range and keep from being hit. He works the head and body with equal effectiveness and is also capable of delivering good high kicks, spinning back kick and effective leg kicks. A smart, all-around fighter, Sharipov effectively uses his striking to set up takedown attempts and by no stretch could his MMA game be perceived as being one dimensional.
