ANALYSIS
Training closely alongside UFC veteran Paul Taylor at Team Kaobon and Team Supreme, Eugene Fadiora is an exciting welterweight striker known for his time on the British MMA circuit. Although he isn't training fulltime, Fadiora has proven committed and patient in his development having compiled a perfect 9-0 record prior to turning pro. Fadiora holds a notable win over Danny Mitchell and with continued focus on his ground game has a chance to develop into a solid welterweight fighter for many years to come.
Fadiora enters the sport with a striking background having studied karate for ten years before moving on to kick boxing and then grappling. Fadiora likes setting the pace of the bout, aggressively stalking his opponent around the cage and cutting off the ring. He shows good footwork, proving very light on his feet as he moves around in a free and easy manner while standing. Fadiora's blessed with very long limbs and he does uses his reach and range effectively. From the outside, Fadiora will work his jab and cross to pepper away nicely at his opponent. He'll also incorporate his kicks nicely into his arsenal, showing nice roundhouse kicks and stinging leg kicks from the outside. Fadiora does a particularly nice job of mixing up his striking and keeping his standup from getting predictable. He works his kicks and punches very nicely off his jab, and has proven capable of putting together very crisp and tidy combinations involving both his hands and legs. Defensively, Fadiora is quite elusive and he does do a good job of keeping from getting hit. He possesses quick instincts, slips punches nicely and does a very good job of staying methodical and composed on his feet. Very rarely will he get caught standing in the pocket and trading, although Fadiora will push forward and go for the kill when his opponent is in danger. Fadiora is very economical with his striking as he keeps from expending energy by throwing unnecessary strikes. While he's understandably much more comfortable working from the outside, Fadiora has shown he's capable of throwing big knees from in close. An intelligent and confident fighter, Fadiora's proven he can pick apart lesser strikers with a composed attack and technical precision. Fadiora's approach is excellent, his technical skills are sound and he's young enough that there's still a tremendous amount of room left for further improvement, leaving plenty of reasons to get excited about his striking potential going forward.
Fadiora's primary base is his striking but his grappling game does show promise. Although he doesn't have a grappling background, Fadiora is a naturally strong athlete who's shown steadily improving aptitude in his wrestling abilities. He's smart enough that he will take his opponent to the mat if he feels that they're getting too comfortable and aggressive with him on the feet, where he will look to improve his positioning. Fadiora is capable of posturing up and utilizing an aggressive ground and pound game if he's not controlled properly, and has shown the ability to throw nice punches and elbows from top position. Fadiora's BJJ game is still a work in progress and he will need to concentrate on his positioning and guard game. At times he does over commit on the mat (leaving himself to get swept or reversed) and he isn't particularly strong fighting off his back. Fadiora's ground game remains a big question mark (and huge X factor) in his MMA arsenal, and he would be well served by continuing to work on his wrestling, takedown defence, jiu jitsu and submission games.
