ANALYSIS
Eric Reynolds is a Bellator FC veteran currently training at American Top Team. Known for his striking, Reynolds will need to focus on his wrestling and ground games if he wishes to round out his skills, and develop into a complete mixed martial artist.
Primarily a striker, Reynolds is very comfortable keeping the fight standing. He's equipped with a long, lanky frame and possesses a competent kickboxing game. Reynolds shows fluidity on his feet where he throws lots of kicks, possesses nice hands, and overall shows good variety in his striking arsenal. His kicking repertoire consists of nice high kicks, strong leg and body kicks, and frequent front kicks. Reynolds does back his kicks with punches when stringing together combinations, and shows a quick cross and a nice overhand right. Very relaxed on his feet, Reynolds throws his kicks and punches in a very free and easy manner and is confident, comfortable and aggressive enough on his feet to try and attempt techniques like spinning back fists and spinning roundhouse kicks. Defensively, Reynolds shows good head movement, has a solid chin and makes an effort to keep his guard up - although he's not untouchable and will need to continue working on his defensive abilities. Although Reynolds isn't an elite MMA striker, he has shown competent technical skills, is very confident keeping the fight standing and trains with a team that has the resources to help him make the most of his natural tools.
Reynolds' ground game has proven to be a large hole in his MMA arsenal early in his career. He's quite prone to being taken down, possesses a green BJJ game and his overall wrestling, takedown defense and mat skills will require continued work. Reynolds' can be put on his back where proficient grapplers have easily been able to pass his guard and control him on his back. He's given up mount and back control with very little resistance and proven out of his element on the ground, with strong grapplers consistently putting him in submission and positional danger. Although Reynolds shows encouraging ground and pound potential and the ability to land accurate punches from the top, his jiu jitsu skills and submission defense are still very much a work in progress. He will need to continue focusing heavily on his wrestling and BJJ, and did mark a very wise decision to join ATT in 2009 to address those weaknesses in his grappling game.

OUTLOOK
Eric Reynolds is armed with nice standup abilities but he has some major holes in his game. In today's age of MMA and especially in a division as deep as the lightweight, it is imperative a fighter be as well rounded as possible and Reynolds will need to continue working on his wrestling, and ground skills. Reynolds is still young and trains with an excellent camp, and if he can continue making progress in the right areas he has a chance to develop into a top twenty lightweight.
