Competing in the welterweight division, Drew Dober is a talented MMA prospect currently signed to Bellator FC. An intelligent, well spoken and hardworking fighter, Dober is very committed to his fighting career (he's already spent time with Xtreme Couture and Shawn Tompkins in addition to his full-time training at Mid-American Martial Arts) and strives to be as technically proficient as he possibly can. Dober began kickboxing at the age of thirteen, BJJ at fourteen and he also wrestled in high school, and has gone on record saying that he aspires to be as well rounded as possible. Prior to turning pro, Dober went undefeated as an amateur where he became known for his striking prowess and aggressive fighting style.

A fan of action stars like Jean Claude Van Damme growing up, it shouldn't be too surprising that Dober's initial martial arts training came in kickboxing and his biggest strength likely lies in his standup game. Dober is a very aggressive striker who's shown excellent raw skill in his early career and does possess both an amateur and professional muay thai background. Blessed with fast hands and good power, Dober's shown the ability to unleash punches quickly and will look to land big, powerful punches on his feet. "Hard hitting" would be an apt term to describe his striking prowess, and Dober's shown nice footwork to go along with a nice straight left, right hook and powerful left hook early in his career. Despite his aggressiveness and hard hitting style, Dober does work on his technique and it wouldn't be fair to call him a "brawler" or "slugger". He's also continued to participate in professional kickboxing and muay thai matches in his early MMA career, which could only further help him refine that aspect of his game. Dober also incorporates a powerful left high kick and solid knees from the clinch into his standup repertoire, and overall he possesses impressive natural tools and promising potential in his striking game.

Understanding the importance of being a well rounded fighter, Dober has continued to work on his wrestling, BJJ, and overall ground game. Early in his career Dober's shown improving takedown defense and nice wrestling abilities, proving he can get the fight to the mat with strong takedowns, slams and good Greco-Roman wrestling skills from the clinch. From top position Dober can deliver an effective attack with powerful punches and nice guard passing abilities. In addition to his wrestling, Dober also shows potential in his BJJ having displayed good submission awareness, an active guard and improving technical BJJ skills. Dober is particularly effective off his back when searching for triangles and armbars (see him transition nicely from a triangle attempt to an armbar below), but his ground game is still green and he will also need to continue getting accustomed to dealing with strikes on the ground. Overall, Dober has shown above average skills in his wrestling, jiu jitsu and ground and pound games and has the potential to develop into a well rounded MMA grappler.
