Doo Ho Choi is a Korean featherweight prospect. Choi began his fighting career at a very early age and had already competed in established organizations like M-1, DEEP, and Sengoku before celebrating his twentieth birthday. Early in his career Choi has captured a Spirit MC Ranger Welterweight Championship and secured a notable victory over Japanese fighter Ikuo Usuda.

Choi is very patient and tremendously composed for his age. He’s a technical striker who keeps his punching clean, rarely getting wild or sloppy standing. Choi’s armed with a good boxing game consisting of nice footwork, fast hands, and a nice straight right and left hook. He throws quick, precise low kicks and shows the intelligence to utilize his reach and work from the outside. Choi varies his striking between the head and body of his opponent, and his tidy punching has proven effective in the exchange. Choi will need to work on his clinch skills (where his concern at being taken down leaves him open), although he has proven adept at keeping his opponents from getting inside on him. He’ll also need to continue tightening up his defensive game, but his development early on is extremely promising.

Choi’s takedown defense has been solid in the early going, where he’s shown a good sprawl and proven difficult to take to the mat (see bout with Ikuo Ususa). A “slippery” grappler, Choi is very quick and elusive, and very hard to keep on his back. He will need to continue working on his takedowns and guard, although his submission awareness and technical proficiency has continued to improve. He’s also shown a promising ground and pound game, with the ability to posture up and rain in a quick barrage of punches from the top.
