The younger brother of MFC standout Douglas Lima, Dhiego Lima is a welterweight prospect based out of Atlanta as part of the ATT-Atlanta and Ascension MMA teams. Having begun his fighting career at an early age, Lima holds dual potential in his striking and submission abilities.

Lima is a very aggressive striker who loves to stand and bang. Naturally, he’s armed with good reach, power and hand speed while employing an aggressive, forward moving strategy. Lima makes good use of his movement, displaying good rhythm and flow on his feet. He establishes distance well and uses his range very effectively. Standing on the outside, Lima utilizes his jab and makes nice use of his leg kicks. He throws a nice lead left hook, a very good counter right, and puts together tidy combinations. Lima shows intelligence in changing levels and angles, as well as working both the head and body of the opposition. A multi faceted striker, Lima has a good clinch game and one punch knockout power (see bout with Bill Fraser). Although Lima is far from a passive striker, he does show controlled aggression and is a defensively responsible standup fighter. Lima has shown an excellent learning curve to begin his career and holds tremendous upside in his overall standup game.

Comfortable on the mat, Lima is equipped with a solid submission game and patient defensive grappling. He utilizes his ground and pound well and shows strong positional grappling abilities. Lima’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu game has developed steadily with still plenty of room for further growth. With continued focus on his wrestling, takedown defense and submission games Lima has a chance to develop into a complete, well rounded welterweight fighter.
