ANALYSIS
Danny Tims is a bantamweight prospect who's made his name known fighting on the Midwest MMA circuit. In the past Tims has fought as high as lightweight, and did have a strong amateur career (18-2) before making the decision to turn pro. Tims' big break came in 2010 when he defeated Brian Davison at Bellator 16 which earned him some well needed exposure and a spot in Bellator's season three bantamweight tournament.
Tims is a speedy fighter who shows good quickness on his feet. He's a confident and unorthodox striker who has a habit of keeping his hands very low and diving in from the outside with his punches. Tims throws quick spinning back fists and high kicks. He's proven to be a tough fighter who doesn't wilt when he's hit, and he can take a hit without getting put off his game. Tims overall standup is still green and he'll need to work on both his offensive and defensive abilities. His habit of keeping his guard down and hands low has seen him get dropped badly, and Tims' head movement and defensive striking games will require work. Offensively, Tims' arsenal is still quite basic and he'd be well served by expanding his repertoire. Although Tims' striking is still raw, the development he's shown since his initial start has been encouraging as he's continued making progress in his standup game.
Danny's a competent wrestler who does have a high school background from William Chrisman High School (Independence, Missouri). Tims is very active and unconventional with his takedown attempts, shooting in from odd angles to try and take his opponent down. A relentless wrestler, Tims goes all-out with every attempt and is armed with a quick shot, nice single and double leg takedowns, and good inside and outside leg trips. On the ground Tims possesses a controlled top game staying very tight to his opponent and utilizing an active, if not overpowering ground and pound game. Technically his ground game is sound as Tims will work for his submissions, at times sacrificing positioning in order to try and finish the fight. He also shows good submission defense and normally fights with good composure on the mat. Occasionally Tims will become content with sitting in his opponents guard and could benefit from fighting more actively from top position as well as off his back.

OUTLOOK
Danny Tims is a young bantamweight who's shown composure and promise in his wrestling/ground games. He's quick, tough and by all accounts is taking his career very seriously. Although he still has a lot to prove, Tims has plenty of time to sharpen his skills and continue progressing as a fighter. There's work to be done but Danny Tims does have top twenty potential.
