The top ranked Polish heavyweight currently in the sport, Damian Grabowski has quickly (and relatively quietly) been making a name for himself over the past two years fighting on the European MMA scene. With a wrestling and submission grappling background, Grabowski displays good takedowns and a solid understanding of submissions. Grabowski also brings with him a tenacious ground and pound attack, and shows good overall awareness on the ground where he is able to quickly transition from ground and pound to submissions and vice versa. Currently holding a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Grabowski has achieved success in various grappling tournaments in the past - where he remains an active competitor continuously looking to test himself, and was also an accomplished submission fighter in Poland prior to his MMA career. Although very green with his striking in his early career, Grabowski has shown significant technical improvement on his feet as his career's progressed and shows the makings of developing into a solid boxer. As he's become more acclimated to the fight game Grabowski has also learned to fight with controlled aggression as he has always been a very aggressive fighter, has gotten much better at setting up his takedown attempts, and overall has been making a very smooth adjustment to the sport. With notable victories over Dion Staring and Miodrag Petkovic, Grabowski currently sports a perfect 10-0 professional record - with four of those wins coming on one night to win a sixteen man heavyweight tournament. Overall he has has shown well rounded skills in finishing all his fights to date with four TKO/KO's and six submissions. In a division that's recently received a steady influx of very large "new age" heavyweights, Grabowski's size (6'0", 230 pounds) may be a future cause for concern. One of the top heavyweight prospects from Europe, Grabowski is next rumoured to be facing former Rings and Pride veteran Valentjin Overeem and with continued success he should find himself competing in one of the sports larger promotions sooner rather then later.
