Dakota Cochrane is a lightweight prospect who’s self described as a “wrestler and striker”. He’s started off his pro career by compiling a solid record that includes a win over four-time NCAA Division III Wrestling Champion Marcus LeVesseur.

Cochrane stays composed standing where the speed and power is evident in his striking. Utilizing an array of heavy leg kicks and punches, he has shown knockout power. When working from the outside Cochrane relies on a powerful left hook and straight right. Cochrane’s natural quickness is evident in his catch and counter skills as well as his ability to avoid opposition punches. Though he’s had success and shown skill, Cochrane will need to keep consistent in his technical training in order to further advance his standup.

A physically strong lightweight, Cochrane is effectively able to work his double leg and clinch takedowns to force the action to the mat. Recognized for his active top position skills, Cochrane relies on a fierce ground and pound game. He will look to posture up in order to work heavy body punches and power shots to the head, and unlike many fighters whose ground striking is used as a means to appear active, Cochrane does look to finish with his punches. A smart guard passer with good submissions awareness, Cochrane is capable of winning the fight through multiple avenues on the ground.
