Court McGee was well in his way towards making his mark on the Utah fight scene, before signing on with the UFC and winning TUF 11 in 2010. His personal problems and past drug abuse were well chronicled on the show, with a low point coming in 2005 when he overdosed on heroin and at one point was declared clinically dead. He eventually overcame those problems and has become noted for his mental fortitude, commitment to his training, and hard working nature

Court wrestled throughout high school and does possess good strength and the potential to land powerful double legs and slams. He's especially good from in close where he shows a nice single leg and body lock takedowns, as well as solid takedown defense overall. A grinder, McGee works hard at wearing his opponent down on the ground. He has very good cardio and seems to get stronger the longer the fight goes on. McGee possesses a good top game and active ground and pound abilities. He will attempt to improve his positioning and shows competency in his submission game, especially with guillotines and the rear naked.

While his wrestling is most prevalent in his overall makeup, McGee did study karate as a kid and does possess pro boxing experience. Blessed with abnormally long arms, McGee looks to utilize his reach advantage and takes a technical approach to his standup. He throws an effective, probing jab, and a nice left hook and right cross. McGee also demonstrates smart counter punching abilities and fights with strong composure on his feet. While his technical game has continued to develop nicely, McGee isn't known for his speed or quickness and will need to continue working on his movement. McGee is still green and will need to make a continued effort to in hopes of improving his defense and technical game.
