Cody Bollinger made a splash when he debuted as a fifteen year old in May 2006. He went on to compile a perfect 6-0 record competing for the King of the Cage promotion, before taking nearly three years off to focus on school and wrestling. He made his return in 2010, fully committed to his MMA training under the guidance of his father (and former KOTC 145 pound champion) Frankie Bollinger.

Beginning at the age of five, Bollinger has continued developing into a strong amateur wrestler. He eventually made his way to Sultana High School where he was a standout, in both the Greco-Roman and Freestyle categories. Although he was offered several Division I scholarships, Bollinger settled on NCWA school Marion Military before transferring to NJCAA school Cerritos College. A power, physical wrestler, Bollinger uses his striking to get in close to his opponent where is capable of dragging them to the mat. He works a strong ground and pound assault from the top, and shows good control and top presence. Although he will need to continue working on his BJJ pedigree, Bollinger has enjoyed some success as a grappler including a 2008 Gold Medal performance at the No-Gi World Championships in the Blue Belt Juvenile Division.

Bollinger is developing as a striker. He moves well, uses his knees nicely against the cage, and is a powerful athlete who naturally able to hit hard. His number one priority however is taking the fight to the mat, and he will need to continue familiarizing himself with the standup.
