ANALYSIS
Christopher Wing is a welterweight fighter competing for Ring of Combat. Currently, he splits his training time between Wing’s Martial Arts Academy and the AMA Fight Club where he trains alongside UFC regulars Dan Miller, Jim Miller, Charlie Brenneman and Frankie Edgar. Early on he’s earned high praise from head AMA instructor Mike Constantino as he’s made his way through New Jersey based promotion Ring of Combat. He’s also tried out and been offered a bout in Bellator FC. Wing jumpstarted his career by taking his first amateur fight at nineteen years old, compiling a solid 8-2 record overall with three titles across three weight classes (in regional organizations) before making the decision to turn pro.
Wing has proven to be an extremely heavy handed puncher who possesses big-time power potential competing in the welterweight division. Capable of finishing with a single punch, Wing is armed with a nasty left hook and a powerful right hand. His pro debut saw him level Giedrius Karavackas with a brutal left hook, which resulted in Karavackas being wheeled away in a stretcher. Wing followed that victory with another highlight reel knockout, this time of Yusuf Yoldas. Wing is a patient striker who looks to counter, throwing an effective counter right. Displaying good defensive awareness, Wings keeps his hands up and high to guard well. He judges and maintains distance well, and continued making strides on the technical side of things. Wing will need to continue working on his footwork and movement, but he shows tremendous upside in his striking game.
Wing is committed to being a well rounded fighter and does train all areas of his MMA game. He’ll shoot to take his opponent down, and as a powerful athlete has shown potential in his wrestling. Wing’s capable of exploding forward with impressive takedowns and slams, including a nice double leg takedown. Fighting off the top Wing’s shown good, technical control of his opponent as well as a quick guard passing game. He demonstrates competent submission awareness and very heavy ground and pound potential. Composed fighting off his back, Wing should continue working on his overall ground game but his technical skills are developing at a steady rate.

OUTLOOK
Christopher Wing is an intelligent fighter who puts a concerted effort into his all-around MMA training. He fights out of a solid camp alongside a good set of training partners, and appears intelligent in the handling of his career. With continued focus on his technical game the heavy handed Wing has a definite shot at developing into a top ten welterweight at some point in his fighting career.
