Chris Davis is a promising MMA fighter currently competing in the light heavyweight division. Starting his MMA training in 2007, Davis has developed at a very steady rate - compiling a perfect 9-0 record as an amateur before turning pro in 2008.

Davis is an athletic striker who possesses good speed and power in his punching. He's armed with a good jab and a powerful right cross, and he has shown the ability to throw heavy leg kicks. Encouragingly, Davis doesn't strictly rely on his natural attributes to get by on his feet, having shown good composure and technical aptitude in his striking. Davis maintains distance well and has shown improving footwork over the course of his career. He does a good job of varying his striking to the head and body of opponents, and the overall progress he's displayed does give reason to be optimistic about future.

Davis didn't have any grappling experience prior to pursuing his MMA career, and the development he shows in that area will surely play a pivotal role in his future successes in the sport. Early on, Davis has shown promise as he's continued to make strides in his grappling and ground games. From a wrestling perspective, he's shown good takedown defense and the ability to take his opponent to the mat when it's to his benefit, displaying a powerful single leg takedown from in close. Davis' jiu jitsu game is still a work in progress, although his submission awareness - both offensively and defensively continues to improve. Futhermore, he's shown quick hip escapes off his back and the ability to open up with a strong ground and pound attack from top position. Davis will need to focus on his technique and conditioning, but his grappling and ground games do show potential.
