ANALYSIS
A very intriguing MMA prospect, Bryan Travers is an up and coming fighter currently signed to the Strikeforce roster. Travers has an NCAA Division I wrestling background where he competed as high as heavyweight, but has worked hard on his conditioning and has transformed himself into a very well conditioned, ripped lightweight. In his first four years in the sport he's racked up wins over MMA veterans Anthony Ruiz, John Gunderson and Jeremiah Metcalf, has worked hard at rounding out his skills, and is well on his way to becoming a complete mixed martial artist.

Travers had a long amateur wrestling career which he topped off by wrestling at Cal State Bakersfield - an NCAA Division I school that has a very strong wrestling program that has produced UFC legend Tito Ortiz, and former two-time NCAA Division I Wrestling Champion and current NFL'er Stephen Neal. Travers is a powerful wrestler with big slams and excellent takedowns, and is extremely strong at lightweight having fought and wrestled very competitively while weighing in at over 250 pounds. Travers possesses good guard passing abilities and strong ground and pound skills, and is also a BJJ purple belt under Dan Camarillo. Travers is a very focused fighter known for his exceptional work ethic, and is very determined to make the absolute most of his MMA career. Given that work ethic combined with his strong wrestling base, athletic abilities and ever improving BJJ skills, Travers appears have all the tools necessary to develop into a very well rounded MMA grappler. Although he initially began his career relying strictly on his wrestling abilities, Travers has become noted for his hand speed and striking abilities as his career's progressed. He trains his striking under Eric Nolan who has trained multiple world champion strikers in the past, and is a tough, mentally strong fighter who has the proper mindset to compliment the technical skills he displays on his feet. Travers has good footwork, is very quick on his feet and makes good use of leg kicks and dirty boxing skills. Give his work ethic and ever improving all-around skills, Travers has the potential to develop into a very well rounded lightweight.
OUTLOOK
Bryan Travers had a very successful wrestling career as a heavyweight and if he hasn't lost any of his strength and power dropping to lightweight he should be a monster wrestler with a significant advantage over most fighters. He's also slowly developed into a very competent submissions grappler and is a BJJ purple belt. Furthermore he shows excellent instincts on his feet and has developed a very good striking game training with Eric Nolan. A hardworking, well conditioned fighter with excellent cardio, Travers has a strong set of managers and trainers around him that are looking out for his best interest and have been patient with bringing him along. Travers has all the tools necessary to develop into a top ten lightweight.
