ANALYSIS
Borys Mankowski is a Polish lightweight fighter and M-1 Challenge veteran. In his early career he's shown potential in his wrestling and proven to be a tough competitor who will not give up. He's already competed in two one-night tournaments winning the XFS Fight Series 3 tourney, and losing to Marcin Held in the finals of the MMA Challengers 2.
Mankowski is a good athlete who shows good speed and strength. He likes closing the distance on his feet and working from in close to try and take the fight to the floor. Although he doesn't possess the amateur wrestling background that some of the North American prospects do, Mankowski has shown good potential with his wrestling and takedowns. He's shown impressive throws and trips from the clinch, a quick, powerful double leg (see bouts with Marek Chwalibogowski, Bartosz Pietrowski and Jordan Bloch) and competent takedowns overall. While Mankowski's preference might be to take the fight to the ground, he does do a good job of setting up his takedown attempts by coming out and striking with his opponents first. On the mat Borys stays very tight to his opponent while showing nice guard passing abilities and a composed top grappling game. An active ground and pounder, Mankowski isn't shy about letting his fists fly from top position and can load up with big punches on the ground. Offensively, Mankowski's submission game shows potential as he's shown the awareness to look for, and proficiency to take advantage of opportunities that may arise on the mat. Mankowski will need to continue working on his BJJ, submission defence and guard skills going forward in order to continue refining his overall grappling game.
Mankowski will stand and strike where he's equipped with good leg kicks and a quick, effective left hook. Although he isn't a power puncher, Mankowski does do a good job of mixing up his striking, utilizing both his kicks and punches in his striking arsenal. As evidenced in his bout with Mairbek Taisumov, Mankowski is still green on his feet and will need to continue working on his technical standup game. In that bout he had trouble dealing with Taisumov's leg kicks and was picked apart pretty handily on his feet. Mankowski will need to continue refining his defensive skills and footwork, and will need to work on expanding his striking repertoire.

OUTLOOK
Borys Mankowski is young fighter who enjoyed an encouraging start to his MMA career. Although he remains very raw and unproven, Mankowski is very young and there's still room for plenty of growth and development in his MMA game. He will need to work on multiple areas of his repertoire, but Mankowski's a good athlete who with more time, training and experience has a chance to develop into a top thirty lightweight in the future.
