ANALYSIS
Fighting out of Riverside Submission and Camacho MMA, Bobby Green is a lightweight prospect still very much in the early stages of his mixed martial arts development. At 23 years of age and just a little over a year into his pro career, Green is still very raw but has shown good natural tools through his first ten bouts. Green's athletic abilities have played a big part in the success that he's achieved in his early career - which includes defeating three opponents in one night to win the Warriors Fighting Championship eight man tournament, but his technical skills are still quite unrefined and his overall MMA game still needs considerable seasoning and polish.
While Green's speed, quickness and reflexes are undeniable, his overall technical proficiency is quite green and will need substantial work. Those natural gifts are very apparent on his feet where Green is extremely quick and agile and can get in and out of range swiftly. Describing his fighting style as "Hood", Green is definitely more of a brawler then a technician and has proven he is not afraid of going toe-to-toe to slug it out. Green employs an unorthodox striking game, as he quickly bounces in and around his opponents while raining in a steady diet of punches, knees and kicks from all angles. An extremely aggressive fighter, Green fights like a Tasmanian Devil on his feet - constantly pressing forward and throwing strikes from every conceivable position and angle. Opponents have been overwhelmed at times by Green's aggressive nature, and that unrelenting style was on full display in his bout with Dan Lauzon, who did have difficulties dealing with the the speed, quickness and immense pressure that Green fought with. As aggressive as he is, often times Green will get very wild and sloppy with his striking dropping his hands and leaving himself open to counters, and while there's no doubting the fact that the natural speed and quickness in Green's striking is excellent, his standup is just not very technically sound at this point. Overall Green displays an excellent set of natural skills on his feet, and with a continued focus on his technique has the potential to develop into a very solid all-around striker.
Although he hasn't faced a great wrestler yet, Green has proven capable of defending against takedowns early in his career as he showcased in his bout with Dan Lauzon, stuffing Lauzon's takedown attempts easily over the course of their fight. Green has also shown good wrestling skills and the ability to take his opponents to the ground with good takedowns and slams (he hit a nice belly to back suplex on Dan Lauzon, and took John Ulloa down almost immediately in his next fight and finished him). Much like on his feet, Green moves well and is very quick and shifty on the ground where his speed and reflexes make him hard to control. Constantly in motion, Green looks to land big punches and elbows from top position, but does get careless at times and has frequently been caught in submission attempts in the past (see bouts with Lauzon, Mitchell and Salomao). Although he has shown good resiliency in being able to avoid those submissions and not be finished, most of his fights have come against lesser competition, and in his match against his highest quality opponent to date he was not so lucky - tapping out against Lauzon. Green has also not looked great fighting off his back and his overall technical ground skills and BJJ will need to be improved as they are definitely a work in progress.

OUTLOOK
Bobby Green's overall development it still quite raw, but he has shown the potential to develop into a solid lightweight fighter. He's athletic, quick and fast, but his overall MMA game lacks seasoning. It was very apparent in his bout with Dan Lauzon that Lauzon had difficulties dealing with Green's natural skills and aggressive style, but it was also apparent that Green was very wild and his technique needed improvement across the board. Bobby Green does not have the name recognition or resources to focus as much on his fighting career as some, and it's still too early to tell what will become of him long term. It would be very interesting to see what he could do training fulltime at a premier camp, but if he is able to continue working his all-around game he does have ability to develop into a top twenty lightweight.
