Anthony "The Death Dealer" Durnell is a lightweight fighter originally hailing from Pittsburgh, PA. Durnell began his martial arts training in Shotokan Karate which he started studying at the age of seven, and continued to work on his standup after enlisting in the US Air Force where he began boxing. Durnell also possesses background in judo and wrestling, and effectively works his striking to set up takedown attempts. Although he makes a deliberate effort to try and take his opponents down, Durnell is far from being a proven MMA wrestler. Durnell's BJJ and technical ground skills are coming along nicely, and he's shown good submission defense and a solid offensive submission game. He's also displayed strong ground and pound abilities - throwing heavy punches and elbows from top position. In times of trouble, Durnell remains very poised, doesn't panic and continues to work at all times of the fight. Physically, Durnell is a small lightweight and if his future really is at 155 pounds he'll need to concentrate on putting on some mass on his 5'8" frame. Durnell is raw and far from a proven commodity, but he does hold a notable win over Alan Omer and holds intriguing potential in the lightweight division.
