ANALYSIS
Of German-Greek heritage, Andreas Kraniotakes is a heavyweight prospect on the European circuit. Possessing good size, Kraniotakes will need to work on his technical skills. It was only after his loss to Gerald Turek that he began training like a “professional”, including having proper training camps and focussing on game planning.
Kraniotakes is an unorthodox striker who’s standup game (visually at least) does bear a slight resemblance to former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia. He has good reach, and throws loopy punches that come in from odd angles. Kraniotakes’ technique will get sloppy at times and he does have a propensity to leave himself open to strong counter strikers (highlighted in his 10 second KO loss to Gerald Turek). Kraniotakes isn’t a very agile striker and is a little slow on his feet. He doesn’t respond well to pressure will need to continue working on his footwork and technical skills.
Kraniotakes possesses an aggressive ground and pound game, looking to load up and land big punches from top position. He does a good job of varying his punches to the head and body of opponents, and has secured the vast majority of his wins by TKO. On the flipside Kraniotakes can be put on his back and will need to work on his takedown defense. He will need to improve his guard work as he isn’t very dangerous off his back and does tend to give up position quite easily.
