ANALYSIS
Currently training out of Team Rough House alongside UFC veterans Paul Daley and Dan Hardy, Andre Winner is lightweight prospect probably best remembered for being a finalist on the 9th season of the "Ultimate Fighter". Very fast and extremely quick, Winner is a tremendous athlete whose natural abilities are apparent every time one watches him compete.

Best known for his standup abilities, Winner possesses a very good technical striking game and has proven himself to be an effective fighter from both the outside and in the clinch. Winner is light and quick on his feet, and moves with great agility displaying good footwork, head movement and excellent instincts. His speed and dexterity are quickly apparent on his feet and Winner possesses very fast hands - including a good jab and right cross, as well as quick, snapping leg kicks. An intelligent striker, Winner is excellent at changing levels and mixing up his strikes to his opponents head and body and trying to stay as unpredictable as possible. Calm, cool and collected, Winner keeps from slugging it out on his feet, as he has the technique to pick his opponents apart (see bout with Stapel) but at the same time does have the athleticism to explode, if and when he chooses to. That explosive potential was on full display in his bout with Roli Delgado, who was on the receiving end of a brutal right hand after being thoroughly outclassed on the feet by Winner. Maybe the most impressive aspect of Winner's standup game has been his work in close. Winner has proven himself to be a very dangerous fighter from the clinch, where he exhibits lightening quick knees to the head and body, but has also (somewhat surprisingly) displayed solid dirty boxing skills complete with effective elbows and punches against the cage. A good example of that effectiveness was displayed in his "TUF" bout with Gary Kelly, whom he worked over and eventually knocked out, and also in the opening round of his bout against Martin Stapel. As polished as his striking abilities are, Winner has shown difficulties in the past dealing with fighters who can constantly pressure him and counter strike effectively, and both those issues played a role in his loss against Ross Pearson.

Like many European fighters Winner's wrestling, takedowns and takedown defense will be heavily scrutinized and remain largely unproven. Although he hasn't faced a quality wrestler as of yet, Winner has displayed an excellent sprawl and has shown the ability to keep the fight standing - which is where he prefers and where he's at his best. On the ground Winner moves quickly, displays good submissions knowledge, and has shown the ability to open up with a persistent ground and pound attack if given the opportunity, but given his preference to keep his fights standing his guard game and ground skills as a whole remain largely untested.
OUTLOOK
Andre Winner is an exceptional athlete who has a good technical striking game and has shown an excellent sprawl thus far. As he showed in his bout with Roli Delgado his standup potential is top notch as he is a natural on his feet with explosive abilities. Winner's future prospects however lie in the level he can get his takedown defense to and how competent his ground game will be. Given his natural abilities there's reason to be optimistic that he'll be able to get those areas of his game to at least a satisfactory level, and if he can get them anywhere near the level of his standup abilities he has top fifteen potential in the division.
