Training out of the Red Devil Sports Club, Alexander Volkov is a heavyweight MMA prospect and M-1 Challenge fight veteran. At 6'7" and roughly 220 pounds, Volkov is blessed with good height but still has a lot of maturing and filling out to do. Volkov is still very raw, but given his age and experience still has plenty of time and considerable development left in his career.

Early in his fighting career, Volkov's best work has come on his feet. He's a composed striker who keeps his hands up, mixes up his punches and kicks well and overall displays good patience in look for striking opportunities without resorting to getting wild or sloppy with his standup. At the same time Volkov isn't afraid of trading, he definitely prefers the standup, won't back away from the exchange and isn't shy about letting his hands go. Volkov uses his length well from the outside where he employs a quick, peppering jab, nice leg kicks and good push kicks to keep his opponents at bay. A combination striker, Volkov is very good at backing his kicks with punches to string together combos and shows versatility in his standup given his kicks, punches, nice counter striking abilities and solid clinch work. Still raw, Volkov is a little stiff with his movement and will need to work on his footwork and head movement while continuing to refine his overall standup skills, but the progress he's displayed at an early age is encouraging.

Volkov is a very thin 6'7" and will need to working on packing muscle onto his large frame. Early on, his takedown defense has been very poor as he's proven very easy to push around and muscle to the mat. Volkov will also need to put considerable work into his ground skills - especially off his back, and his overall ground and guard games leave a lot to be desired. Volkov gives up mount position with almost no resistance (see bouts with Abdulhalik Magomedov, Ibragim Magomedov, Smbar Zakaryan), and his underwhelming mat skills and takedown defense combined with the fact he doesn't show top shelf striking potential is a cause for concern in his MMA development. Despite that, Volkov does remain composed in whatever position he finds himself on the ground and features a ground attack of good punches and hammer fists from top position.
