A UCMMA Welterweight Champion, Alberto Mina is a welterweight fighter and member (as well as coach) at the London Shootfighters team. Mina comes from a grappling base having studied judo at the age of five and BJJ by the age of thirteen. He earned his judo black belt in 2003, and in 2005 he was awarded his black belt in BJJ by Roberto Fialho. A current competitor on the British fight circuit, Mina is a promising welterweight who holds a win over former ultimate fighter contestant Dean Amasinger.

Mina is an engaging striker who certainly doesn't shy away from standing. He keeps his hands up, shows good defensive awareness, and works his jab-cross combination effectively. Mina throws a nice lead left hook, good leg kicks and shows good head movement and quickness on his feet. Although Mina isn't an overpowering striker, he will aggressively pursue his opponent at certain times. He'll look to land big kicks and overhand rights, as well as charging in with flying knees.

Mina is a solid BJJ black belt who also possesses submission wrestling and judo backgrounds. He shows good single leg takedowns and a nice assortment of trips from in close, but Mina isn't an overwhelming wrestler or takedown artist. Mina will effectively set up his takedown attempts with his striking, and is confident enough in his ground game that he will pull guard. On the mat, Mina is a strong BJJ player who shows beautiful jiu jitsu skills from the top. He's very quick, technically sound, and shows impressive transitions and guard passing abilities. Mina's ground game is extremely fluid, and he possesses a very technically strong submission game. He seamlessly transitions between submission attempts (see his kimura to armbar finish of Edgelson Lua), and is a certain threat to finish on the ground. An active guard player, Mina shows good sweeps and submissions. He's also not shy about using his fists on the mat, and overall his ground game meshes together nicely.
