ANALYSIS
Adlan Amagov is a Strikeforce and Pro FC veteran hailing from Russia. A former sambo practitioner, Amagov now splits his training tine between the AMA Fight Club and K-Dojo MMA where he continues working on rounding out his skills.

Amagov looks to keep the fight on the feet where he’s shown an exciting brand of standup. His bread and butter has to be his kicking game, as Amagov utilizes a wide variety of conventional and unorthodox techniques. He throws beautiful spinning back kicks (high and low), powerful leg and head kicks – many times in succession, and is capable of ending the bout in highlight reel fashion (see his sensational knockout of Maskhat Akhmetov as an example). He employs a quick front kick to the body to keep his opponent at bay, and generates a lot of power in every kick thrown. He works his knees well from in close and is capable of handling himself well from both the outside and in close. With his hands, Amagov is consistently working his counter left hook and overhand right which are staples of his standup arsenal. He’ll also work his jab as needed and go to the body; though overall his hands are not in the same category as his kicks. On occasion his punches will come in long or wide, and Amagov will need to work towards shoring up his defensive shortcomings.

Amagov is equipped with a sambo background and demonstrates good balance. This is especially prevalent in his defensive wrestling, as Amagov has shown skill in keeping the fight upright by utilizing his hips and footwork to keep away from the takedown. Although striking is his trademark, Amagov is comfortable taking the fight down when needed demonstrating nice outside leg trips and a good single leg. From top position he loads up with quick punches and is quite aggressive with his ground striking. He’ll also look to pass and will often employ creative cartwheel guard passes, which at the very least demonstrate his confidence in engaging on the mat. As he proceeds in his career Amagov should continue focusing on his submission game and guard playing abilities. His progression in those areas combined with his continued development in wrestling and BJJ will play critical roles in his overall development.
OUTLOOK
Adlan Amagov is an exciting striker with a dangerous kicking game. In order to find success in North America it’s imperative that Amagov continue working on his grappling arsenal, but with work he could settle in as a top twenty fighter.
