ANALYSIS
A King of the Cage and DREAM veteran, Abel Cullum is an exciting fighter who's competed in the bantamweight and featherweight divisions. He's known for pushing a very high pace, always looking to finish, and for his time as a standout Flyweight (135 pound) Champion for the King of the Cage promotion. A great ambassador of the sport (he doesn't drink, do drugs, or party), Cullum is a tough, hardworking athlete who's always prepared and ready to put on an entertaining performance.
Known primarily for his grappling abilities, Cullum has focused heavily on his no-gi grappling game as he's tried to center his ground training on MMA applicable techniques whenever possible. An aggressive fighter, Cullum pushed an incredibly high pace, often charging right out of his corner and immediately working hard to try and secure a takedown. He's relentless in his effort, and does display a good double leg takedown from in close. Cullum possesses a strong top game as he's constantly working at a very high rate trying to procure a submission, improve his positioning, or work an aggressive ground and pound attack. Cullum shows good guard passing abilities and is armed with solid technical ground skills. He's great at forcing his opponents to surrender their back, where he works feverishly for a very effective rear naked choke. Overall Cullum's equipped with a very strong, active and versatile submission game that keeps opponents on guard from any position on the mat. Off his back Cullum throws up submission attempts at a ridiculous rate, is able to shift seamlessly between attempts, and is always active. Cullum is always working for something - whether it is a sweep or submission attempt, and look to be the initiator who keeps his opponents on the defensive and reacting to what he does.
Like his ground game, Cullum is an aggressive fighter on his feet who goes right after his opponent standing. He's not shy about standing in the pocket and trading punches and he does show a nice right cross and the willingness to let his hands go. Unlike his grappling abilities, Cullum is still green on his feet and will need to work on his technical game. He tends to set up takedown attempts by winging in punches, and in the process does leave himself open to counters. Cullum has been outclassed on his feet in the past (see bout with Hideo Tokoro), his grappling is definitely the strongest point in his game, and he will need to focus on his technical and defensive standup skills if he wishes to fully round out his MMA game.

OUTLOOK
Abel Cullum is an exciting fighter who always competes aggressively and looks to finish his fights. His ground game is very solid, as his technical skills and submission game make him a threat anytime the fight hits the mat. Although he will need to focus on his striking, Cullum's is a young, experience and hard working fighter who does hold considerable top ten potential at bantamweight.
