STRENGTHS
Over the course of his career Healy’s proven to be a scrappy fighter who routinely steps in on short notice, turning in competitive performances in the process. His never quit attitude has allowed Healy to continue progressing at an age and experience level where few do, and he owns a misleading win-loss record that is not indicative of his true skill level. Healy possesses good size, power and takedown abilities at lightweight and enters the sport as an experienced wrestler and BJJ stylist. Headstrong in his approach, Healy is relentless in his takedown attempt. On the ground he’s equipped with a savvy mat presence and a very slippery grappling style; showing quick transitions, fluid movement and good overall awareness. Active off his back, Healy is difficult to keep grounded where he works a proficient submission game. His conditioning is superb and he doesn’t hesitate about pulling the trigger on his punches, displaying a stiff jab and a forward moving striking style.
WEAKNESSES
Healy needs to find consistency to his game and he’s routinely bounced between weight divisions. Although he’s won many fights he was expected to lose, Healy’s also dropped some he was expected to win. At times he appears content with letting his opponent dictate the pace and location of the bout, and he has lost decisions in the process. At times Healy rushes himself and will leave himself open defensively to submissions. Standing, Healy isn’t known as a power puncher and his footwork and defense will require work.
