STRENGTHS
Cariaso’s biggest asset is his muay thai game. He has a good deal of experience in the discipline, taking a methodical, technical approach during fights. Cariaso demonstrates good speed, footwork and defensive awareness at all times. He stands southpaw and throws good kicks (heavy low/body kicks, powerful high kicks) and a nice straight from the left side. Cariaso is a compact bantamweight capable of taking opponents to the mat with body lock takedowns and trips, where he shows competent submissions awareness and ground and pound abilities.
WEAKNESSES
Although he prefers to work from the outside, Cariaso is usually at a disadvantage in terms of reach and can be caught with counters trying to push in. In MMA he’s been a little tentative about pulling the trigger on strikes (usually in fear of the takedown) and will only throw one or two at a time. Cariaso’s defensive wrestling and ground skills are still coming together.
