Zak Cummings(14-3): I just had the honor of watching him fight in his hometown of Springfield, Missouri on Saturday and he dominated his opponent and walked away with a win which should get him into the bigger promotions once again and get him some TV exposure. Zak has tried out for The Ultimate Fighter and made it through the interviews twice and both times they dropped his weight class. This guy need to be on your top prospect list.
Andrew Whitney(7-1) : “The Beast” a Springfield Fight Club fighter was also on the card Saturday and he impressed me with his flying knees and his movement in the ring. He has excellent ground game and when his opponent left his neck out there he took it and held on winning by a guillotine choke. You might have seen his YouTube video or seen the fight on HDNET from Titan FC 20 where he viciously knocked out Laramie Shaffer with the flying knee. This kid is another prospect people need to watch out for.
James Krause(19-4): Krause has fought all over the Midwest, mostly in Missouri and is a TitanFC veteran. “Posterboy” has an awesome ground game winning 11 fights by submission. His stand up is very good and his kicks come from crazy angles as he showed in his last fight against Mark Korzenowski knocking him out in just 26 seconds. I have heard a lot about his amateur MMA career even being told he was 18-1. He is a veteran of over 42 fights and is only 25 years old.
Chris McDaniel: Records don’t matter with this guy. He fights out of Branson Fight Club and he earned his nickname “The CrAzYmAn” cause no matter what he knows he is in the cage to bring it and he is just one those fighters that you can't miss fight. He fights all around Missouri and will fight just about anyone who signs a contract to fight him. Chris is just one of those fighters that brawls and that's why he is on this list. There is a video on YouTube called “McDaniel MMA Fight” make sure you check it out. His losses are mostly from fighting at heavier weight classes for promoters at the last second to help them out. Fighting studs at the beginning of his career. He has also won 10 out of his last 13 fights.
Anthony “Sharkbait” Gutierrez(4-0) : He is not a veteran yet but he has made a name for himself in the MMA world by becoming HDNET's 2011 top prospect. He fights out of Kansas City, Missouri and is only 21 years old, so the sky is the limit with this kid. I talked to “Sharkbait” and he said “I'm looking forward to it and I'm ready to get after it in 2012”
LC Davis(16-5) : LC is a highly decorated MMA fighter that has fought in the WEC, Affliction, and the IFL. He has had a bit of bad luck lately but he is always fighting tough guys and you can't take anything away from him for that. He has notable wins over Javier Vasquez, Diego Nunes, and Rafael Dias.
Jason High(15-3) “The KC Bandit” has been on a roll lately and is on a 6 fight winning streak after being let go by UFC after only 1 loss. Jason has fought in Dream FC several times and been successful even making it all the way to the Final Round in the Dream Welterweight Grand prix. High is now in Strikeforce and is 2-0 in the promotion so pretty soon he will be in line to fight for the title that is currently vacant.
Tyron Woodley(10-0) : “T-Wood” is undefeated and has got most of his wins in Strikeforce and is in the hunt for that Welterweight title and has been for awhile now. His wrestling is phenomenal and that's what gets him wins. I have heard him say “He wants to go over to UFC”. I hope he does and is successful but I think he has worked his way up the welterweight ladder and deserves at least a shot at the Strikeforce title against a top opponent.
Michael Chandler(9-0) : A lot of people were clueless to Michael Chandler before he arrived in Bellator and started picking up wins in the Lightweight Tournament taking out Marcin Held, Lloyd Woodard, and Patricky Freire before having one of the best fights in 2011 for the Bellator Lightweight Championship against Eddie Alvarez, It was a back and forth fight all the way through and in the 4th he took Alvarez's back and got the rear naked choke becoming the Champ.
Michael Johnson(10-6) : “The Menace” fought in smaller organizations around Springfield, Missouri before his appearance on Season 12 of The Ultimate Fighter, where he made it all the way to the finals where he was beat by Jonathon Brookins. He is 2-2 in UFC and is coming off a great win over Shane Roller. I think that his win over Shane Roller was his best performance in the UFC.
